The Gibson Brothers are staying Home & heading to Penn State!

When you think of Penn State Wrestling, most think of winning, domination, hardwork, and reloading. Well PSU just reloaded and landed both Mason & Erik Gibson on Saturday. Minutes after they made their announcements, the Wrestling social media scene took on the buzz! Everywhere you looked there was stories about the brothers staying in PA to continue their HS careers.

Erik was a big recruit coming out of HS. Many coaches knew landing him, could potentially mean they could land Mason and it could open up a pipeline to the McCort program. The Gibson's train at M2 and make the trip to State College a few times a week, so this will be a normal thing wrestling in Happy Valley.

Jax Forrest does it again! Jax places 5th at the Bearcat College open!

For a freshmen to win one match a college open is extremely hard to do, but to collect four TF's is completely unheard of. Jax Forrest for the second straight weekend, enters a college open as a freshmen in Highschool and beats up college wrestlers. Jax open this past weekend against Seldon Seymour of Lehigh, and after a crazy battle, Jax loses 9-7. In the consy bracket Jax rattled off 4 straight technical falls and claims 5th place. A technical fall is when you are beating your opponent by 15 or more points. This rule is the equivalent to the mercy rule in baseball.

Jax Forrest TF 18-3 over Joe Sciarrone, Cornell

Jax Forrest TF 17-2 over Jace Schafer, West Virginia

Jax Forrest TF 20-5 Kenny Sailas, Northern Colorado

Jax Forrest dec 11-9 over Brett Ungar, Cornell

Jax Forrest TF 16-0 Mason Leiphart, Franklin & Marshall

National Middle School Duals: CrushersWC wrestlers represented well

This past weekend the CrushersWC sent 5 wrestlers out to Toledo to compete in the National Middle School Duals. This event is looked at as the top MS preseason event and a good place to see where the wrestlers fall within the top wrestlers across the country.

Melvin Miller and Keegan Bassett both had great weekends and their team Dynasty was able to make it to the Gold Pool. Making the Gold pool is very important at these dual events, because it ensures you will wrestle the other top teams and usually the other top wrestlers at the weight class. Miller was able to go 7-0 and had some very impressive wins. His biggest win coming from a 4-2 decision over Evan Stanley of Illinois. Bassett was 6-1 and was in some wars throughout the weekend. His best win was over another PA State champion Jake Benyo 8-2. Two weekends ago, they met at West Penn, where Bassett barely won 2-0.

CJ Pensiero was also on a team who was able to compete in the gold pool. CJ went 4-3 and had some tough matches all weekend long. CJ had a very impressive win over Jake Hughes and Gabe Logan from New Jersey. Eli Herring was on M2 and they were in the Silver Pool. Eli had a great weekend and went 5-3. Eli had two wars with other ranked wrestlers, he lost 3-1 in OT to Cason Craft of Georgia and 5-4 to Justin Farnsworth. His wins were against Ingham, Pratt, Manley, Hutt and Thier.

Matteo Noronha had three huge pins for Team Gotcha. Noronha was 4-4 on the weekend and also wrestled in the Silver pool.

CrushersWC Girls Ranked in the Country: Fouse, Snider and Favara all ranked in the Country

The latest USA Wrestling rankings just came out for the HS girls and the CrushersWC have three girls ranked in the top 25 in the country at their weights.

Jordyn Fouse is ranked 4th at 127, Raegan Snider is ranked 17th at 152 and Alyssa Favara is ranked 22nd at 164. Jordyn and Raegan are 10th graders at Bishop McCort, while Alyssa is a Junior at Bishop McCort.

Bishop McCort became the 40th school district to add a Girls wrestling program. Right now the PIAA is sitting at close to 70 schools and with a girls team. Once they get to 100 teams, the PIAA will be making Girls Wrestling an official sport.

They were invited to participate in the Senior level world cup training camp. This is the second time these guys were at the OTC this year, but this times its alittle different with the senior level wrestlers. Huge Weekend for the CrushersWC at The Surge

The CrushersWC had a huge weekend at the Surge this past weekend. Most of the top program from around Pennsylvania were there competing and trying to take home some hammers.

The CrushersWC wrestlers were able to pick up championships at all three divisons (Girls, Middleschool and Highschool). At the Middle School division, Will Buckley, Keegan Bassett, and Matteo Noronha won hammers and all wrestled very good.

In the Girls division, The CrushersWC was able to two Championship Hammers. Alyssa Favara and Rae Snider both wrestled amazing, aggressive and scored a bunch of points en route to their championships.

The HS division was the largest of the three and featured some top wrestlers from across Pennsylvania. The breakout performance came from Melvin Miller. He was seeded 10th and only in 8th grade. Miller makes winning a Surge HS Title as an 8th grader into a CrushersWC Tradition (Mason Gibson 2020, Bo Bassett & Jax Forrest 2021). Miller had to beat the 7th seed, 2nd, 6th and top seed to claim his title. Mason Gibson picked up his second Surge Hammer with a close victory over Tahir Parkins of Nazareth. Bo Bassett also collected his second Surge championship with a TF in the finals vs Nico Fanella.
